Fluency Practice: All students are asked to practice fluency at least 3 times a week using www.xtramath.org. Each student has their username and pin on a red sheet in the front of their agenda. If it asks for an email address, use: radiance.lewis@douglas.k12.ga.us

Assessments: There will be weekly assessments based on what has been covered in class. Any failing grades can be corrected and returned for partial credit.

ELA

Ms. Palmer's Classes
Math-
This week we will focus on dividing with whole numbers and decimal fractions.

Helpful Videos:

Xtramath: Students received their login information on a pink sheet of paper for Xtramath.org. They are expected to practice their math fact fluency on this website at least 3 times a week from school or home. Let me know if you are having trouble logging on.

Assessments: Students will be assessed weekly based on information covered in the classroom. Students are more than welcome to take their math notebook home to use as a study tool.
Failing grades can be done over for partial credit.

Homework: Math homework will be assigned on Monday and will be expected to be turned in on Friday morning. I will not collect homework until Friday morning.

Writing-
Students will be working on their first personal narrative story. We will go over the writing process, and practice ways to make our readers "Step into the Story."

Homework: This week students will receive a writing assignment.

Mr. Waters' Classes
Math- We have finished the first half of our first module, all about place value and working with decimals (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division)  We will be continuing learning strategies to help with what we have already learned in class.

Homework:  Students will receive a packet of 3 pages front and back on Monday.  It consists of all the work we will be doing this week and it will be due on Friday (or earlier!)
Failing grades can be done over for partial credit.

Be on the lookout for a weekly review that I have been developing. This is not considered homework as we do work on it together in class for morning work, but if you would like to see it your student should have it in their folder.  This is a graded assignment worth 10 points (5 bonus points if turned in early), and can really help your child's grade for the 9 weeks.  Please make sure that these are getting done and turned in.  I will be contacting you parents if more than 1 is missing for your child.  I am beginning to see patterns of this not being turned in so please make sure that your child is getting it turned in on time.

Science- We have an action packed week ahead of us in science.  We will continue with learning about animal cells and how they compare to plant cells.  On Tuesday students will be put into groups to research an organelle within a cell and will work to present their findings along with their group on Wednesday.  We will have a quiz on Friday based on ALL of the information on cells; both plant and animal.  Please make sure that your child brings their interactive notebook home to study with starting on Wednesday!  Students will also have homework given to them Monday and due to me on Friday.
