Mrs. Anderson's Classes

Math - We will work on dividing and multiplying whole numbers and decimal fractions.  Practicing multiplication drills frequently is a must.  There are several multiplication online resources that will help students learn the multiplication facts.


Please encourage your child to practice daily on TenMarks.  Will your child be the TenMarks Champ this week?

Homework - Turn in the next day when assigned.  We will discuss all homework assignments the following day.
Assessments - All assessments are given Thursday or Friday and will cover material covered in class that week.

Reading - This week we will study figurative language in literature.  Our focus will be metaphors and similes.

Fluency Practice: All students are asked to practice fluency at least 3 times a week using www.xtramath.org. Each student has their username and pin on a red sheet in the front of their agenda. If it asks for an email address, use: radiance.lewis@douglas.k12.ga.us

Math-

Xtramath: Students received their login information on a pink sheet of paper for Xtramath.org. They are expected to practice their math fact fluency on this website at least 3 times a week from school or home. Let me know if you are having trouble logging on.

Assessments: Students will be assessed weekly based on information covered in the classroom. Students are more than welcome to take their math notebook home to use as a study tool. 
Failing grades can be done over for partial credit.

Homework: Math homework will be assigned on Monday and will be expected to be turned in on Friday morning. I will not collect homework until Friday morning. 

Writing-
We will be finishing up our dialogue practice with making comics. We will begin to discuss how to include figurative language into our writing.

Mr. Waters' Classes

Math- We will continue working with multi-digit multiplication as we progress, but we will still be working on review of module 1 material as our  new material builds upon what we have already done. 

Homework:  Homework is due the next day after being assigned, unless noted in the agenda.
Failing grades can be done over for partial credit.

Be on the lookout for the weekly review. This is not considered homework as we do work on it together in class for morning work, but if you would like to see it your student should have it in their folder.  This is a graded assignment worth 10 points (5 bonus points if turned in early), and can really help your child's grade for the 9 weeks.  Please make sure that these are getting done and turned in.  I will be contacting you parents if more than 1 is missing for your child.  I am beginning to see patterns of this not being turned in so please make sure that your child is getting it turned in on time.

Science- We took our microorganisms test on Friday and we will be beginning our next unit on Monday.  We will be starting classifying organisms in our next unit.  There will be a lot of vocabulary to go along with this unit, so please review this with your child at home each night.

I am available for science test retakes any morning this week, so please have your child let me know if they would like to come in the morning!

Mr. Wooden's Class

Math-   Daily math homework Monday through Thursday.  Monday Unit 2 Lesson 4-6 Problem set , Tuesday Lesson 4 Exit Ticket Friday Lesson 5 Exit Ticket. 
Students should correct, and study any low grade exit tickets for a retake Tues-Fri 715-745 Sorry, no early class this week, I have bus duty.

Social Studies-    Unit 4 Reconstruction Key people and terms. Major events. 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.  Open note test Tuesday.  Notebook check Tuesday.  Wednesday, Home Budgets Thursday, Supply and Demand price models.
