Week of September 18



Mrs. Anderson's Classes

Math:
Students will begin to have weekly multiplication quizzes.  Please make sure your child is practicing this skill.  We will focus on multiplying and dividing powers 10 as well as writing and evaluating numerical expressions.

Science: 
Reminder:  Cells project is due Thursday, September 21, 2017.  Students should study all vocabulary words daily.  These notes are in their notebooks.  

We will continue our study of microorganism.  Our next standards include the study of the kingdoms.  
Vocabulary Focus:  membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, chloroplasts, cell wall, structure, beneficial, harmful

Ms. Summers' Classes
Math: 
Review:
We will continue to review order of operations, evaluating numerical expressions, and powers of ten.  
New:
We will begin to work on multiplication and division processes, reviewing several strategies.  Please utilize Edmodo for games and tutorial videos at home.

**Math homework will be given Monday to be turned in on Friday.  This is taken as a grade if completed, so please use the homework to review concepts with your child.  Xtramath can also be used to increase math fluency.


ELA: 

We will introduce using commas and review subjects and predicates.
Please utilize Edmodo for games and tutorial videos at home.




Ms. Palmer's Classes
Math: 
We will continue to focus on the powers of ten, and multiplying and dividing whole numbers.
Homework will be given on Mondays and will be collected on Friday mornings
Please have students log on to xtramath.org in their spare time, to help with basic fact fluency.


Writing: 
We will begin working on our narrative unit.


Ms. Hill's Class
Math- 
We will focus on order of operations, evaluating numerical expressions, and grouping symbols.


Social Studies-

We will continue to work on our Civil War Unit.

Reading- 
In reading, we will continue to focus on making inferences and how to quote accurately from a text.  We will also evaluate how characters in a story respond to challenges.  Our extended text is Wonder. We will use this book to help us explore theme and characterization further.
